Ingredients

10 slices Texas toast style pre-sliced bread

1 cup Butter, at room temperature

1½ cups Grated parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the room-temperature butter until light and fluffy, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. Add the grated parmesan cheese to the whipped butter and continue mixing for 1-2 minutes until the cheese is evenly combined and the mixture is fully blended.

  3. Spread a generous, thick layer of the butter and cheese mixture over the top of each slice of bread.

  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

  5. Place each bread slice into the skillet with the buttered side down. Cook for about 1 minute until the butter and cheese mixture turns golden brown and the bread is soft and warm.

  6. Transfer the toasted cheese bread to a serving plate. Serve warm.

This is a no-fuss weeknight side that works for families and reheats well in a low oven. All three ingredients are staples at any Charlotte grocer—Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, Walmart, and ALDI all stock sliced bread, butter, and grated parmesan year-round. At roughly 40 cents per serving, it's genuinely cheap. The stated 15 minutes is honest if you're using pre-sliced bread and starting with a toaster oven already warm; the actual prep and cook time lands right there.
