Ingredients

2 (15-ounce) cans peaches in juice

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Open both cans of peaches and carefully pour the contents into a fine-mesh strainer set over a bowl, reserving the liquid for later use.

  2. Transfer the drained peaches to a medium saucepan and sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over them.

  3. Place the saucepan over low to medium heat and stir gently every few minutes as the peaches begin to soften and release their juices, cooking for about 20 minutes total.

  4. Using a potato masher or the back of a wooden spoon, break down the peaches to your desired consistency—leave some small chunks for texture, or mash until nearly smooth, depending on preference.

  5. If the sauce becomes too thick during cooking, gradually stir in the reserved peach liquid a little at a time until you reach the desired thickness. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.
