Ingredients

3 quarts Water

Large eggs

Directions

  1. Pour the water into a large pot and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. Gently lower the eggs into the boiling water one at a time using a spoon to prevent cracking.

  3. Once all eggs are in the water, reduce the heat to maintain a gentle boil and set a timer for 6 minutes.

  4. While the eggs cook, prepare a bowl with cold water and ice to stop the cooking process once time is up.

  5. When the timer sounds, carefully remove the eggs with a spoon and immediately transfer them to the ice water bath.

  6. Let the eggs cool in the ice water for 1 to 2 minutes to stop the cooking process, then remove and place in egg cups.

  7. Gently tap and remove the top of the shell, revealing the soft yolk within, and serve immediately with toast soldiers or crusty bread for dipping.
