Ingredients

½ cup Sweet cherries, pitted and halved

1 cup Cantaloupe melon, cut into cubes

1 cup Seedless green grapes, halved

1 medium Banana, peeled and sliced

¼ cup Fresh orange juice

¼ cup Flaked coconut, optional

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before preparing the salad.

  2. Pit and halve the sweet cherries, removing any stems.

  3. Cut the cantaloupe into 1-inch cubes, discarding the rind and seeds.

  4. Halve the seedless green grapes lengthwise.

  5. Peel the banana and slice it into uniform rounds.

  6. In a large bowl, combine the cherries, cantaloupe cubes, grapes, and banana slices, mixing gently to avoid crushing the fruit.

  7. Pour the fresh orange juice over the fruit mixture and stir gently to distribute the juice evenly.

  8. If desired, sprinkle the flaked coconut over the top and toss lightly to combine.

  9. Serve immediately, or chill until ready to enjoy.

This fruit salad hits all the practical marks: every ingredient is year-round stock at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Walmart, or ALDI, so no special trips needed. At roughly $1.50 to $2 per serving, it's genuinely cheap—cherries are the only seasonal splurge, but in North Carolina summer they're local and reasonably priced. The stated 10 minutes is honest; chopping fruit and squeezing or pouring juice takes that long, no hidden prep. It's the perfect light side for a weeknight family meal or potluck, keeps well refrigerated for a day or two, and reheats fine if you add juice right before serving.
