Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 large egg
1 large shallot, very finely minced
1 tbsp capers, finely chopped
2–3 tbsp sharp mustard (such as German Löwensenf)
2 tbsp olive oil
Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
3–4 slices toast
Directions
Finely mince the shallot and capers, then place them in a clean mixing bowl. Add the ground beef and the raw egg to the bowl.
Using a fork, gently combine all ingredients until evenly mixed throughout, breaking up any clumps of beef as you work.
Add the sharp mustard, olive oil, and freshly ground black pepper to the mixture. Fold together with the fork until all seasonings are uniformly distributed.
Divide the prepared mixture between two serving plates and accompany with warm, crispy toast on the side.
