Ingredients
1½ cups Frozen watermelon chunks
1½ oz Tequila
½ oz Triple sec or Grand Marnier
4 oz Margarita mix
1 cup Ice cubes
Kosher salt for rimming glass
Directions
Combine the frozen watermelon chunks, tequila, orange liqueur, margarita mix, and ice cubes in a blender.
Blend on high speed until the mixture reaches a smooth, slushy consistency with no large chunks remaining.
Rim a chilled glass with kosher salt by moistening the rim and dipping it into salt.
Pour the blended watermelon margarita into the prepared glass and serve immediately.
Comments
This single-serving margarita relies on margarita mix and liquor, neither of which is a Charlotte grocery staple—budget a Publix or Harris Teeter trip for the orange liqueur and quality tequila unless you already stock them. The 120-minute time is misleading; actual assembly is five minutes, but the recipe counts ice-chilling and presumably watermelon chilling, which is honest only if you start from whole fruit. At one serving per batch, this is a special-occasion drink rather than a weeknight solution, and fresh watermelon is cheapest and best in peak NC summer (June through August). The recipe is not fussy once ingredients are on hand, but the per-drink cost climbs quickly with quality spirits—figure $8 to $12 per margarita depending on your tequila choice.
