Ingredients

12 ounces beef round steak

1 garlic clove, minced

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

4 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Wash hands with soap and water. Pat the beef round steak dry with paper towels. On a clean cutting board, use a sharp knife to slice the beef across the grain into thin strips approximately 1/2 inch wide and 2 to 3 inches long.

  2. Place the minced garlic, lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, salt, and black pepper into a medium glass mixing bowl. Stir well to combine into a marinade.

  3. Add the beef strips to the marinade and stir gently to ensure every piece is evenly coated with the mixture.

  4. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for approximately 2 hours to allow the flavors to infuse into the meat.

  5. Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a medium skillet over medium-high heat for 1 to 2 minutes until the oil is hot and shimmers.

  6. Remove the beef strips from the marinade using a slotted spoon or tongs, allowing excess liquid to drain back into the bowl. Discard the used marinade.

  7. Carefully add the drained beef strips to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the meat is thoroughly browned on all sides and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F for medium-rare doneness.

  8. Transfer the cooked beef to a serving plate and serve hot with your choice of side dishes.
