Ingredients
1 slice thick-cut sandwich bread
2 tablespoons cultured unsalted butter, divided
120 grams sweet red bean paste (anko)
Flaky sea salt to taste
Directions
Spread one tablespoon of the cultured unsalted butter evenly over the surface of the thick-cut sandwich bread.
Place the buttered bread slice into a toaster oven and toast for 4–5 minutes until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
Remove the toast from the toaster oven and spread the sweet red bean paste evenly across the entire surface.
Sprinkle flaky sea salt lightly over the red bean paste to taste.
Top the toast with the remaining tablespoon of cultured unsalted butter. Serve immediately while warm.
Comments
Red bean paste requires a stop at ALDI or an Asian market—most Harris Teeter, Food Lion, and Publix locations do not stock it regularly, and that diverts a weeknight. The rest is pantry-simple and genuinely six minutes from counter to plate. At roughly $1.50 per serving depending on paste quality, it's a budget-friendly breakfast or snack for one. It does not keep as leftovers, so plan for immediate eating only.
