Ingredients

2 tablespoons malted milk powder

1/4 cup vegetable oil, coconut oil, or grapeseed oil

1/2 cup popcorn kernels

3 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, malted milk powder, and salt. Set the mixture aside.

  2. Add the oil and popcorn kernels to a large heavy-bottomed pot with a lid (6-8 quart capacity). Shake the pot gently to coat all kernels evenly with oil.

  3. Cover the pot with the lid and position it so steam can escape—either use a lid with a vent hole or crack the lid slightly to allow air circulation.

  4. Place the pot over medium heat and listen for the kernels to begin popping. Once the popping slows significantly and nearly stops, immediately remove from heat to prevent scorching the bottom layer.

  5. Carefully pour the chocolate malt powder mixture over the hot popcorn and toss vigorously for 1-2 minutes until the coating is evenly distributed throughout.

  6. Transfer the coated popcorn to an airtight container and allow it to cool completely before sealing. Store for up to one week.
