Ingredients

2 cups Low-fat or fat-free yogurt

1 cup Banana, sliced

½ cup Fresh blueberries

½ cup Fresh strawberries, sliced

1 cup Granola

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before beginning.

  2. Prepare all fruit by washing the blueberries and strawberries, then slice the banana and strawberries if using fresh berries.

  3. Place four tall glasses or parfait dishes on your work surface.

  4. Divide the yogurt evenly among the four glasses, spooning approximately ½ cup into each glass as the base layer.

  5. Sprinkle a generous portion of granola over the yogurt in each glass.

  6. Top each parfait with approximately ¼ cup of mixed fresh fruit, combining the sliced banana, blueberries, and sliced strawberries evenly among all four glasses.

  7. Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to eat.

This is exactly what it claims to be: five minutes, no cooking, and every ingredient is stocked year-round at any Charlotte grocer—yogurt and granola at ALDI or Kroger are especially cheap, bananas run 50 cents a pound, and berries are reasonable even in winter. At roughly $2 to $2.50 per serving, it's a solid breakfast or light dessert for a family. The only real limitation is that parfaits are best eaten immediately; they get soggy within an hour, so this is a same-night dish that doesn't reheat.
