Ingredients

1 pound mushrooms, sliced

2 tablespoons butter

1 small onion, finely chopped

12 ounces sour cream

2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried dill)

salt to taste

black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Melt the butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook gently, stirring occasionally, until it becomes translucent and softened, about 5 minutes—do not allow it to brown.

  2. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook, stirring gently, for about 3 minutes until they begin to release their moisture and absorb the butter.

  3. Pour the sour cream into the pan and stir in the fresh or dried dill until well combined. Season the mixture generously with salt and pepper to your taste.

  4. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture just to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low and simmer gently for 1 minute to heat through. Serve warm.
