Ingredients

1 cup Water

1 cup Granulated sugar

1 Vanilla bean

Directions

  1. Pour the water and sugar into a medium saucepan over medium heat.

  2. Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely, approximately 3-4 minutes.

  3. While the syrup heats, slice the vanilla bean lengthwise and use the tip of a small knife to scrape the tiny black seeds from the inside of the pod.

  4. Once the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is gently simmering, add the vanilla bean pod and scraped seeds to the saucepan.

  5. Maintain a gentle simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the vanilla to fully infuse into the syrup.

  6. Remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool to room temperature, approximately 10 minutes, with the vanilla bean still in the pan.

  7. Once cooled, transfer the syrup to a clean glass jar or bottle, leaving the vanilla bean in for continued flavor. Store in the refrigerator for up to one month.
