Ingredients

6 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cloves garlic cloves, minced

4 tablespoons honey

1 fresh lime juice

1 lime zest

kosher salt, to taste

freshly ground black pepper, to taste

4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

4 salmon filets

2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring frequently. Continue cooking until the milk solids brown and the butter turns golden amber in color, approximately 3 minutes. Add the minced garlic, honey, and lime juice, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and set the brown butter lime sauce aside.

  2. Pat the salmon filets dry and season both sides generously with salt and pepper. Lightly coat each filet with the all-purpose flour, shaking off any excess. Lightly drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey over the top of each filet.

  3. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Carefully place the salmon filets skin-side down in the hot skillet and sear for 1 to 2 minutes until the bottom is golden. Flip and sear the second side for another 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.

  4. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork (internal temperature should reach 145°F at the thickest part).

  5. Plate the salmon filets and drizzle generously with the warm brown butter lime sauce. Garnish with fresh lime zest and serve immediately.

All ingredients are stocked year-round at every major Charlotte chain, with no specialty stops needed—salmon, butter, lime, and honey are supermarket staples. The cost per serving runs around $6–$8 depending on salmon price at Harris Teeter or Kroger, which is reasonable for a protein-centered weeknight dinner. The 30-minute claim is honest; pan-searing salmon takes 8–10 minutes once you've prepped garlic and lime, and brown butter comes together in 3–4 minutes. It reheats adequately though the crust softens, and it's hands-off enough for a busy family if you don't overcook the fish, though salmon demands attention to avoid drying out.
