Ingredients

4 (4- to 6-ounce) Alaska salmon fillets, frozen

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1 bunch scallions (at least 8 scallions, trimmed)

1 teaspoon black sesame seeds, plus more for serving

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste

Directions

  1. Allow the frozen salmon fillets to thaw on the counter for 10 minutes while you prepare the glaze and vegetables. Pat the fillets dry with paper towels.

  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, and minced garlic until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, carefully place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the pan. Cook for 3 minutes without moving them.

  4. Brush the top of each salmon fillet with the honey-soy glaze, then flip and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 145°F at the thickest part.

  5. Push the cooked salmon to the side of the skillet and add the scallions in a single layer. Let them char for 1 to 2 minutes on each side until lightly blackened and tender.

  6. Drizzle the sesame oil over the salmon and scallions, then sprinkle with the black sesame seeds and salt to taste.

  7. Divide the salmon and charred scallions among serving plates. Sprinkle additional black sesame seeds on top and serve immediately.
