Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

4 tablespoons butter, divided

1 cup whole milk

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup pizza sauce

Toppings of choice (such as pepperoni, vegetables, or herbs)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F using the convection setting, or 425°F if using a conventional oven.

  2. Place the 4 tablespoons of butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for about 20 seconds until fully melted.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  4. Pour 3 tablespoons of the melted butter and the milk into the dry ingredients, then stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; the dough should be slightly lumpy.

  5. Brush the remaining 1 tablespoon of melted butter evenly around the inside of a 9-inch round baking pan or cast iron skillet.

  6. Transfer the dough to the prepared pan and gently pat it into an even layer, pressing it up the sides slightly to form a shallow crust.

  7. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the biscuit crust, then top with your desired toppings and finish with the shredded mozzarella cheese.

  8. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
