Ingredients

2½ teaspoons Active dry yeast

1 cup Warm water

3¼ cups Bread flour

2 teaspoons Salt

2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

1 tablespoon Sugar

8 ounces Cream cheese, at room temperature

2 Fresh jalapeno peppers, seeded, rinsed, and diced

1 cup Mild cheddar cheese, grated

1 cup Mozzarella cheese, grated

2 tablespoons Greek yogurt

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5–8 minutes until the mixture becomes bubbly and the yeast is activated.

  2. Add the salt, oil, and half of the bread flour to the yeast mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon or mixer until the flour is fully incorporated. Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and knead for 5 minutes until it is no longer sticky.

  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and allow to rise for 60–90 minutes until it has doubled in size. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal pieces.

  4. Preheat the oven to 500°F. In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, diced jalapeños, Greek yogurt, and ½ cup of the mozzarella cheese using a fork until well mixed. Set aside.

  5. On parchment paper or in a pizza pan, roll one piece of dough into a 12–14 inch square or circle. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough. Top with half of the cheddar cheese and the remaining ½ cup of mozzarella cheese.

  6. Bake at 500°F for 15–20 minutes until the crust is puffed up and lightly golden brown.

  7. Remove from the oven and cut into long breadstick-shaped strips. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

  8. Repeat steps 5–7 with the remaining dough and filling for the second batch.

The dough requires a full rise cycle, so the stated 140 minutes is honest, though closer to two and a half hours with active prep factored in. Ingredients are all standard grocery finds at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, or Walmart with no special stops needed, and fresh jalapeños are reliable in Charlotte year-round. At roughly $0.50 per breadstick, the cost is reasonable for a crowd-pleasing appetizer or party food, though the cream cheese and three cheeses do add up. This is a make-ahead winner that reheats well, and the 20-serving yield makes it ideal for game day or entertaining, but it demands planning and oven time rather than weeknight spontaneity.
