Ingredients

1 teaspoon vegetable oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

4 1/2 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon caraway seeds

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before beginning preparation.

  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat until it shimmers, about 1 minute.

  3. Add the sliced onion to the hot oil and cook, stirring occasionally, until the edges become golden brown and the onion softens, approximately 5 to 6 minutes.

  4. Add the sliced cabbage, salt, black pepper, and caraway seeds directly to the pan with the onion.

  5. Stir well to combine all ingredients, then reduce heat to medium-low. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for about 30 minutes until the cabbage is very tender and lightly caramelized.

  6. Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately while hot.
