Ingredients

1/3 cup softened butter

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup milk chocolate chips

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Line a baking sheet with wax paper. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined. Add the all-purpose flour and stir until just combined—do not overmix. Fold in the milk chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  2. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, form the dough into 1-inch balls and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet. Transfer to the freezer and chill for about 30 minutes, or until the dough balls are firm to the touch.

  3. Place the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

  4. Remove the chilled dough balls from the freezer. Using a fork, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, turning gently to coat all sides. Lift the fork and tap it against the edge of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.

  5. Place each chocolate-coated truffle back on the wax paper-lined baking sheet. If desired, sprinkle lightly with sea salt while the chocolate is still wet.

  6. Return the baking sheet to the freezer for at least 15 minutes, or until the chocolate shell has completely hardened. Transfer the finished truffles to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
