Ingredients

4 Pita bread

½ cup Peanut butter

2 cups Marshmallows

3 Fresh bananas

¼ cup Fruit spread or jelly

Directions

  1. Position your oven broiler rack in the upper-middle area and preheat the broiler to low heat.

  2. Place the pita breads on a baking sheet. Spread approximately 2 tablespoons of peanut butter evenly across the surface of each pita.

  3. Distribute the marshmallows evenly over the peanut butter layer on each pita bread.

  4. Place the baking sheet under the broiler and cook for 3-4 minutes, watching closely, until the marshmallows have melted and the tops are lightly golden brown with some caramelization.

  5. Remove from the broiler and allow to cool for 1-2 minutes. Slice the fresh bananas and arrange them over the warm marshmallow layer.

  6. Drizzle the fruit spread or jelly over the banana slices. Serve immediately while the marshmallows and pita are still warm.

Every ingredient is a staple at any Charlotte grocer—pita, peanut butter, marshmallows, banana, and fruit spread are all standard stock at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Walmart, ALDI, and Kroger. The cost per serving runs under $1, driven mainly by the peanut butter, with pantry staples doing the rest. The stated nine minutes is honest; assembly takes two to three minutes and toasting marshmallows another four to five, with no hidden prep. This is a straightforward weeknight dessert or snack that requires no chopping skill and tolerates no delay—it must be eaten warm while the marshmallows are melted, so it's a same-night dish with zero leftovers, which is actually a plus for portion control and preventing waste.
