1 tablespoon maple syrup

8 oz. mascarpone cheese

6 peaches, halved

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mascarpone is the only potential friction point—Harris Teeter and Kroger carry it reliably, but if you hit Food Lion during a gap, you'll need Publix or Walmart, a minor inconvenience rather than a true second trip. Cost per serving runs roughly $1.25-$1.50 if you buy mid-grade peaches and store-brand maple syrup, making it one of the cheapest desserts for twelve people. The stated eight minutes is honest if peaches are halved ahead of time, though factoring in halving and pitting adds a real five minutes to prep. This is a summer-specific dessert best made July through early September when local and regional peaches peak in Charlotte, and it's a same-night dish that doesn't reheat well, so plan to serve it fresh from the grill.
