Ingredients
1/2 ripe cantaloupe, seeded
1 block (8 ounces) feta cheese, broken into 4 pieces
1/2 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
Directions
Cut the seeded cantaloupe half into 4 equal wedges.
Place each cantaloupe wedge on an individual serving plate.
Coarsely crack the black peppercorns using a mortar and pestle or the bottom of a heavy pan.
Top each cantaloupe wedge with one piece of feta cheese.
Sprinkle the cracked black pepper evenly over all four wedges and serve immediately.
Comments
All three ingredients are available at every Charlotte chain without a special stop—cantaloupe is standard produce year-round, feta is stocked everywhere, and black pepper is universal. The cost per serving runs about $1.25, driven entirely by the cantaloupe; feta and pepper are negligible. The stated five minutes is honest and accurate for slicing and plating. This works as a light weeknight side, a summer breakfast, or a make-ahead component that holds reasonably well in the fridge for a day, though the feta will soften if it sits more than a few hours.
