Ingredients

1/2 cup butter

1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk

10 large marshmallows

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chopped walnuts

2 cups white sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8 inch baking dish with parchment paper, then lightly butter the parchment to prevent sticking.

  2. In a small bowl, combine butter, semisweet chocolate chips, and vanilla extract. Set this mixture aside.

  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, evaporated milk, and marshmallows. Stir frequently until the mixture comes to a full boil.

  4. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and continue cooking for 6 minutes, stirring constantly to ensure even heating and prevent scorching.

  5. Remove from heat and immediately pour the hot marshmallow mixture into the bowl with the chocolate chips and butter. Stir vigorously until smooth and completely combined.

  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the fudge.

  7. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared 8x8 inch baking dish and spread evenly. Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour, or refrigerate for 30 minutes until firm.

  8. Once set, cut into 16 squares (2x2 inch pieces) using a sharp knife dipped in hot water. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, or refrigerate for extended storage.
