This is a genuinely cheap homemade liqueur that costs a fraction of store-bought Irish cream and requires no specialty shopping in Charlotte—all six ingredients are standard at any Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, or Walmart. The 12-minute estimate is honest: there is no cooking, just whisking dulce de leche, instant coffee dissolved in hot water, vanilla, and cream together. It makes eight servings at roughly $1.50 per drink, driven entirely by the whiskey and cream. The main caveat is that it does not keep long once mixed; treat it as a gift to give away or a same-week drink, and store it in the refrigerator. For a holiday gift or weeknight dessert spirit, this one asks almost nothing of you.
