A warm, pressed sandwich combining sliced deli turkey, sharp cheddar cheese, and crisp green apple with a touch of Dijon mustard on whole grain bread. The panini is buttered on the outside and grilled until the cheese melts and the bread becomes golden brown, creating a perfect balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors.

Ingredients

4 tablespoons butter with canola oil

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 green apple, thinly sliced

4 slices whole grain bread

8 slices sharp cheddar cheese

8 thin slices deli roasted turkey

Directions

  1. Preheat your panini press or grill to medium-high heat, allowing it to warm up completely for about 5 minutes.

  2. While the press heats, spread one side of each of the 4 bread slices with approximately 1 tablespoon of the butter mixture, coating the exterior surfaces evenly.

  3. Take 2 slices of bread and spread the mustard on the unbuttered interior side of each slice, distributing it evenly across the surface.

  4. On each mustard-coated bread slice, layer the fillings in order: arrange half of the apple slices on each slice, then place 4 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the apples, and finally arrange 4 slices of turkey over the cheese.

  5. Top each sandwich by placing the remaining 2 bread slices on top, butter-side facing outward, pressing gently to secure the layers.

  6. Place both paninis on the preheated press and grill for 3 to 5 minutes, pressing down gently once or twice during cooking, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.

  7. Carefully remove the paninis from the press, cut each sandwich diagonally in half, and serve immediately while warm.
