Ingredients
7 cups Kale leaves, torn into bite-sized pieces
1 tablespoon Olive oil
Flaky sea salt
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
Tear any large kale leaves into bite-sized pieces and place them on a baking sheet. Drizzle the olive oil over the kale and gently massage it into the leaves with your hands until all pieces are lightly coated.
Spread the kale in a single, even layer on the baking sheet. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes.
Remove from the oven and use a spatula to separate any kale leaves that have stuck together, ensuring they are still in a single layer.
Return to the oven and continue baking for approximately 20 minutes, until the kale is completely crisp and no longer soft. The leaves should curl slightly and darken slightly in color.
Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle generously with flaky sea salt. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Comments
Kale, olive oil, and sea salt are staples at every Charlotte grocery chain, making this a zero-friction shop. At roughly 80 cents per serving for a bunch of kale and basic pantry items, this is genuinely cheap. The stated 35 minutes is honest—10 minutes prep, 20-25 minutes roasting—and the chips reheat well in a 350°F oven for a next-day snack. The only minor drawback is that kale chips are fussy about moisture and temperature, so they demand attention during roasting and don't tolerate much variation, which keeps this from a perfect score.
