Ingredients
1 sprig Fresh mint sprig
¼ ounce Fresh lime juice
Ice cubes
1½ ounces Irish whiskey
2 ounces Ginger ale
1 wedge Lime wedge for garnish
Directions
Gently press the mint sprig against the inside of a cocktail glass to release its aromatic oils, then add the fresh lime juice to the glass.
Fill the glass with ice cubes, then pour the Irish whiskey over the ice.
Top the drink with ginger ale, stirring gently to combine all ingredients.
Garnish with a lime wedge placed on the rim or floated in the drink, and serve immediately.
Comments
This is a straightforward cocktail with ingredients readily available at any Charlotte grocery chain—mint grows in home gardens or appears year-round at Harris Teeter produce, lime and ice are standard stock, Irish whiskey is in Kroger and Food Lion liquor sections, and ginger ale is ubiquitous. At roughly $2 to $3 per drink depending on whiskey brand, it's a reasonable pour for one person. The stated five minutes is honest; muddling mint and combining spirits takes no longer. The single serving means this is a same-night drink with no leftover concerns, and it requires minimal skill or attention, making it solid for a quick evening drink without complexity.
