Ingredients

1 cup steel-cut oats

4 cups cold water

Fresh berries, for serving

Brown sugar, for serving

Skim milk, for serving

Directions

  1. In a bowl or container, combine the steel-cut oats and cold water. Stir well to combine.

  2. Cover the container with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours.

  3. In the morning, stir the oatmeal well. If the mixture is too thick, add more cold water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

  4. Divide the overnight oatmeal between two serving bowls.

  5. Top each bowl with fresh berries, a sprinkle of brown sugar, and a splash of skim milk. Serve immediately.
