Ingredients

¾ cup Fat-free yogurt, plain or flavored

100% fruit juice

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before beginning.

  2. Combine the fat-free yogurt and 100% fruit juice in a mixing bowl.

  3. Stir the mixture vigorously until the yogurt and juice are completely blended together with no visible streaks.

  4. Divide the yogurt mixture evenly among 4 paper cups, filling each about three-quarters full.

  5. Insert a popsicle stick into the center of each cup, positioning it so it stands upright.

  6. Place the cups in the freezer and allow them to freeze until completely solid, approximately 4 to 6 hours or overnight.

  7. Once frozen solid, run warm water over the outside of each cup for a few seconds to loosen the pop, then push up from the bottom to release and enjoy.

Yogurt pops are genuinely cheap—plain yogurt and fruit juice from any Charlotte supermarket run about $1.50 to $2.00 total—and the ingredient list is bulletproof at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Publix, Walmart, ALDI, and Kroger. The stated time is deceptive: you mix and freeze, but the actual eat-ready window is 4 to 6 hours, so plan ahead for a weeknight snack or next-day lunch. These keep brilliantly in the freezer for weeks, rewarding a Sunday batch with grab-and-go breakfasts or after-school treats; the main caveat is that they demand freezer space and the foresight to make them in advance rather than when hunger strikes.
