Ingredients

400 ml apple juice

1 ripe banana

1 tsp wheat grass powder

8 cm piece cucumber

handful fresh mint leaves

3 ice cubes

100 g fresh spinach

Directions

  1. Pour the apple juice into your blender.

  2. Add the fresh spinach, peeled banana, sliced cucumber, wheat grass powder, and mint leaves to the blender.

  3. If your blender has a powerful motor, add the ice cubes. For standard-power blenders, omit the ice and reduce the amounts of banana and cucumber by half to prevent motor strain.

  4. Blend on high speed until completely smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

  5. Pour into glasses and serve immediately while chilled.

Wheat grass is the sticking point: you'll need a special trip to Harris Teeter's natural foods section or a health-focused store, as it's not stocked at Food Lion, Publix, Walmart, ALDI, or Kroger in Charlotte. The stated five minutes is honest if you're using pre-cut produce and powder or frozen wheat grass, but fresh wheat grass requires juicing equipment most households don't own, which adds real friction to a weeknight. Everything else—banana, spinach, cucumber, mint—is widely available year-round at any chain, and the cost per serving lands around $1.50–$2.00 if you use frozen spinach and budget apple juice. It's a same-morning drink with no leftovers, best suited to someone who already shops at specialty grocers or has committed to green smoothies enough to justify the equipment.
