Ingredients

4 medium pears

3/4 cup 100% orange juice

4 teaspoons sugar

Directions

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before beginning.

  2. Peel the pears and place them in the upper portion of a double boiler. Heat water in the lower pot to a gentle boil and steam the pears for 15 minutes until they become tender.

  3. While the pears steam, combine the sugar and orange juice in a small saucepan. Place over low heat and simmer gently for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves and the sauce is heated through.

  4. Remove the orange sauce from heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.

  5. Carefully transfer each steamed pear to an individual serving plate.

  6. Divide the cooled orange sauce evenly among the plates, pouring approximately 1/4 of the mixture over each pear. Serve immediately.
