Ingredients
6 cups whole milk
3 teaspoons butter
6 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1 cinnamon stick
pinch Pinch of ground cinnamon for garnish
Whipped cream for topping
Directions
Pour the milk into a small saucepan and add the butter and cinnamon stick. Whisk continuously over medium-high heat until the mixture becomes frothy and just begins to rise rapidly in the pan, about 4–5 minutes.
As soon as the milk reaches a vigorous froth and rises quickly, remove the pan from the heat immediately.
Remove the cinnamon stick and stir the maple syrup into the hot milk until fully incorporated and blended.
Pour the steamed milk evenly into two mugs, dividing the froth between them.
Top each mug with a generous dollop of whipped cream, then sprinkle a pinch of ground cinnamon over the whipped cream for garnish. Serve immediately.
Comments
This is a weeknight winner for a quick Charlotte kitchen: milk, butter, maple syrup, cinnamon stick, and ground cinnamon are all shelf staples at any Harris Teeter or Kroger, and whipped cream is a five-minute walk from dairy in any chain. The cost per serving runs under $1.50, driven by milk and butter, which is genuinely cheap. The seven minutes stated is honest—heat milk, add butter and syrup, stir in cinnamon, done—with no hidden prep. It's a two-person drink, not a leftover dish, so it lands as an evening ritual or sick-day comfort, not a meal plan anchor. The only reason this is not a 5.0 is that it's a beverage, not a recipe that solves a dinner question, and the cinnamon stick feels like decoration when ground cinnamon already does the work.
