Ingredients
1½ tbsp fresh lime juice
1 tbsp dark sesame oil
1 tbsp bottled ground fresh ginger
1 tbsp bottled minced garlic
2 tsp fish sauce
¾ tsp sugar
4 whole flour tortillas
2 cup torn Boston lettuce
12 oz thinly sliced deli roast beef
½ cup matchstick-cut carrots
¼ cup fresh mint, chopped
Directions
In a small bowl, combine the lime juice, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Set the dressing aside.
Warm the tortillas briefly if desired, or use them at room temperature. Lay one tortilla flat on a clean work surface.
Arrange a portion of the torn Boston lettuce in the center of the tortilla, leaving about 1 inch from each edge.
Layer approximately 3 ounces of the sliced roast beef over the lettuce.
Add about 2 tablespoons of the matchstick carrots and 1 tablespoon of the chopped mint to the filling.
Drizzle approximately 1 tablespoon of the dressing over the filling.
Roll the tortilla tightly, starting from one long edge and rolling away from you, tucking in the sides as you roll to keep the filling secure.
Repeat with the remaining tortillas and ingredients to make 4 rolls total.
If desired, cut each roll in half at a diagonal and serve immediately, or wrap in foil to keep warm. Any remaining dressing can be served on the side for dipping.
Comments
Fish sauce is the real hurdle here: you'll need a second stop at a global market or Walmart's international aisle, which adds cost and time to a weeknight. The 15-minute claim ignores julienning carrots and ginger, plus assembly; expect 25 minutes realistically. Cost per serving lands around $3.50–$4.00 depending on roast beef quality, and the dish doesn't reheat well—lettuce wraps demand fresh, crisp leaves. It's a solid make-it-same-night meal for four, no fussy technique once you have the ingredients, but the fish sauce stop makes it less spontaneous than the timer suggests.
