A smooth, refreshing cold brew coffee made by steeping coarsely ground coffee beans in cold water overnight. This method produces a naturally sweet, less acidic concentrate that can be served over ice with your choice of milk or enjoyed black. Perfect for warm days or whenever you crave a bold, chilled coffee.

Ingredients

170 g Whole coffee beans, coarsely ground

1020 g Cold water

Directions

  1. Coarsely grind the whole coffee beans if not already ground. You want pieces roughly the size of breadcrumbs, not fine powder.

  2. In a large glass jar or container, combine the ground coffee and cold water. Stir well to ensure all the coffee grounds are saturated and there are no dry pockets.

  3. Cover the jar with a lid or plastic wrap and place it at room temperature, away from direct sunlight.

  4. Let the mixture steep for 12 to 16 hours (or up to 24 hours for a bolder flavor). The longer it sits, the more concentrated and robust the coffee becomes.

  5. After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into another clean container, discarding the grounds. For a cleaner cup, strain a second time through cheesecloth or a coffee filter.

  6. The resulting cold brew concentrate can be diluted with water or milk to your preferred strength and served over ice. Store the concentrate in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
