Ingredients
4 cups square puffed rice cereal
3 ounces grape flavored gelatin powder
2 cups confectioners' sugar
4 tablespoons purple sprinkles, divided
1/2 pound white chocolate chips
2 tablespoons butter
8 ounces peanut butter chips
Directions
For the grape jelly variety: Pour 2 cups of puffed rice cereal into a large bowl.
In a large zip-top bag, combine the grape gelatin powder, 1 cup of confectioners' sugar, and 2 tablespoons of purple sprinkles. Seal and shake well to blend all ingredients evenly. Set the bag aside.
In a microwave-safe medium bowl, combine half of the white chocolate chips (1/4 pound) with 1 tablespoon of butter. Microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds, stir, then continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until the mixture is completely melted and creamy.
Pour the melted white chocolate mixture over the cereal in the bowl and add the remaining 2 tablespoons of sprinkles. Stir constantly until every single piece of cereal is completely coated with the chocolate mixture.
Transfer the coated cereal into the zip-top bag with the sugar mixture. Seal the bag and shake vigorously until all the cereal is evenly coated with the sugar mixture.
Spread the finished mixture onto a clean cookie sheet to cool and harden for about 5 minutes.
For the peanut butter variety: Pour the remaining 2 cups of puffed rice cereal into another large bowl.
In a separate large zip-top bag, place the remaining 1 cup of confectioners' sugar. Seal and set aside.
In a microwave-safe medium bowl, combine the peanut butter chips with the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter. Microwave on 50% power for 30 seconds, stir, then continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
Pour the melted peanut butter mixture over the cereal in the second bowl and stir thoroughly until all pieces are coated completely.
Transfer the coated cereal into the sugar-filled zip-top bag. Seal and shake well until every piece of cereal is evenly covered with the sugar coating.
Pour the peanut butter variety onto another clean cookie sheet to cool and harden for about 5 minutes. Serve both varieties together or separately.
