Ingredients

2¾ cups whole wheat flour

4 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk

1 cup thick-cut orange marmalade, warmed for 30 seconds in the microwave

1 tablespoon honey

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease a 9-inch loaf pan and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy release.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. Warm the marmalade in the microwave for 30 seconds to loosen it, making it easier to stir into the batter.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and honey until the honey is fully dissolved.

  5. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and stir gently until just combined—do not overmix, as lumps in the batter are normal and will result in a more tender crumb.

  6. Fold the warmed marmalade into the batter until evenly distributed, taking care not to break apart the marmalade pieces.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  8. Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs. The top should be golden brown.

  9. Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
