Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter, softened
8 oz cream cheese, softened
½ cup fruit preserves (apricot, raspberry, or prune)
¼ cup powdered sugar for dusting
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the softened butter and cream cheese. Beat them together with a mixer or wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Gradually add the flour to the butter and cream cheese mixture, stirring gently until a soft dough comes together. Do not overmix.
Form the dough into a flat disk, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour until it becomes firm enough to roll.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly flour a clean work surface and roll out the chilled dough to approximately ¼-inch thickness.
Using a knife or pastry wheel, cut the rolled dough into 2-inch squares or circles, depending on your preference.
Place a small spoonful of fruit preserves in the center of each dough piece. Fold opposite corners (or sides for circles) over the filling toward the center, pressing lightly so they hold together.
Transfer the shaped kolacky to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the edges and tops are light golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow the kolacky to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once completely cooled, dust the kolacky generously with powdered sugar. Serve and store in an airtight container.
