Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef (90%) or ground turkey
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup low-fat milk (1% or non-fat)
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Non-stick cooking spray for baking sheets
Directions
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and warm water before handling food.
Preheat your oven to 425°F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef (or turkey), beaten egg, bread crumbs, milk, onion powder, dried parsley, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the mixture.
Shape the mixture into approximately 24 meatballs of uniform size, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
Spray two baking sheets generously with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Arrange the shaped meatballs in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about an inch apart.
Bake in the preheated 425°F oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Check doneness by inserting a food safety thermometer into the center of a meatball. For ground beef meatballs, ensure an internal temperature of 160°F; for ground turkey meatballs, ensure 165°F. If not yet done, return to the oven for another minute or two and recheck.
Remove the meatballs from the oven once they have reached the safe internal temperature. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
If preparing for later use, let the meatballs cool completely, then package them in meal-sized portions and freeze immediately in airtight containers or freezer bags.
