Ingredients
3½ cups canned sweet potatoes, drained (reserve 2 tablespoons of liquid)
2 cups apples, peeled, cored, and cut into bite-sized pieces
2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
⅓ cup chopped nuts (pecans, walnuts, or other preferred variety)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Pour the drained sweet potatoes into a baking dish and arrange the apple pieces among them.
Drizzle the reserved 2 tablespoons of sweet potato liquid evenly over the sweet potatoes and apples.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, chopped nuts, flour, and melted butter, stirring until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the nut and sugar topping evenly over the sweet potato and apple mixture in the baking dish.
Bake for 20 to 30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the mixture is bubbling around the edges. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
