Ingredients
2 ripe bananas, sliced lengthwise
3 tablespoons grass-fed butter
2 tablespoons coconut sugar
1 can full-fat coconut milk
1 cup ice cubes
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
pinch Pinch of sea salt
2 tablespoons sunflower seed butter
Directions
Heat the grass-fed butter in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it melts and becomes foamy.
Add the coconut sugar to the melted butter and stir constantly until the mixture becomes bubbly and the sugar begins to dissolve, about 1 minute.
Carefully place the banana slices cut-side down into the butter-sugar mixture. Cook for approximately 3 minutes until the cut surface develops a deep golden-brown caramelized color.
Gently flip the banana slices and cook the other side for another 3 minutes until similarly caramelized. Remove from heat and allow to cool briefly.
Transfer the caramelized bananas along with all pan drippings to a blender. Add the full-fat coconut milk, ice cubes, ground cinnamon, sea salt, and sunflower seed butter.
Blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.
Comments
Every ingredient is standard stock at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, or Walmart, with sunflower seed butter widely available as a peanut-allergy alternative in the nut butter aisle—no special trip needed. The cost per serving runs about $2.50 to $3.00, driven mainly by coconut milk and sunflower seed butter, both reasonable for a dessert drink. The stated 15 minutes is honest; caramelizing banana in butter takes 3 to 4 minutes, then blending is instant, though you'll want to slice banana and let it soften slightly before cooking if using cold fruit. This is a luxury dessert for two—rich, indulgent, and best consumed the same night, since reheating a milkshake doesn't work, and it won't hold texture overnight in the fridge.
