Ingredients
2 tablespoons dark French roast ground coffee (use the richest variety available)
6 oz boiling water
2-3 tablespoons condensed milk
1 cup coffee ice cubes
Directions
Place the dark French roast ground coffee in a filter or strainer positioned over a glass.
Pour the 6 oz of boiling water over the coffee grounds slowly and allow them to steep for about 4 minutes to extract the rich, bold flavors.
Once steeped, carefully pour the filtered coffee into the glass, leaving the grounds behind.
Stir in 2-3 tablespoons of condensed milk until fully combined and the coffee takes on a creamy, light brown color.
Fill the glass with coffee ice cubes and stir well to chill the beverage and blend all the flavors together.
Serve immediately and enjoy your Vietnamese iced coffee.
Comments
Every ingredient is a staple at any Charlotte grocer—coffee, water, condensed milk, and ice—so no special trips needed. The real cost driver is good coffee; budget $0.30 for grounds and $0.30 for condensed milk, landing around $0.60 per serving, which is half the price of a coffee-shop version. The stated five minutes is honest, though you'll wait several minutes for the coffee to cool if making it hot-brewed, so call it closer to ten actual minutes, but most of that is passive. This is a single-serving drink with no leftovers, perfect for a weekday breakfast or afternoon pick-me-up, and requires zero fussing once you understand the condensed milk ratio.
