Ingredients
1/4 cup All Purpose Flour
6 Granny Smith or Braeburn Apples, cored and sliced
1/3 cup Packed Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Chilled Butter, diced
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 cup Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
1/2 cup Toffee Bits
Directions
Core and slice the Granny Smith or Braeburn apples, peeling them if desired. Lightly grease a 6-quart slow cooker with butter or cooking spray.
Distribute the prepared apple slices evenly into the prepared slow cooker. Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the apples and gently toss to coat.
In a medium bowl, combine the all purpose flour, packed brown sugar, and chilled diced butter. Use a fork or your fingertips to blend the ingredients together until the mixture resembles coarse crumbles.
Stir the old fashioned oats into the crumbly flour mixture until evenly distributed.
Spread the oat and flour mixture evenly over the cinnamon-coated apples in the slow cooker.
Sprinkle the chopped pecans and toffee bits evenly over the top of the crumble layer.
Cover and cook on low heat for 4 to 6 hours, until the apples are very tender and the topping is golden and caramelized.
Serve warm in bowls, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
