Ingredients

4 tablespoons softened butter

1/2 cup shredded Asiago cheese

1/2 cup shredded cheddar jack cheese

1/2 cup light mayonnaise

3 green onions, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, finely minced or pressed

1 loaf French bread

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.

  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, Asiago cheese, cheddar jack cheese, light mayonnaise, chopped green onions, and minced garlic. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly blended into a smooth, spreadable consistency.

  3. Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise, creating two long halves with cut sides facing up.

  4. Generously spread the cheese mixture evenly across the cut surface of both bread halves, covering the entire surface.

  5. Place the bread halves on a baking sheet with the cheese mixture facing up. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, until the cheese topping is melted and the spread is heated through.

  6. Adjust the oven setting to broil. Broil the bread for about 3 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese begins to turn golden brown and slightly bubbly on top.

  7. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 1 minute. Slice the bread into individual portions and serve immediately while warm.
