Ingredients

4 medium apples, cored and thinly sliced

14 ounces whole cranberry sauce

2 tablespoons margarine, melted

1 cup uncooked old-fashioned rolled oats

⅓ cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F and position a rack in the center.

  2. Wash the apples under cool running water. Using a sharp knife or apple corer, remove the cores. Slice the apples thinly, keeping the skin intact, and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add the whole cranberry sauce to the bowl with the apples and gently stir until the fruit is evenly combined.

  4. Pour the apple and cranberry mixture into an 8x8 inch baking pan, spreading it in an even layer.

  5. In a separate bowl, combine the melted margarine, rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Stir until the mixture is well blended and the oats are evenly coated.

  6. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the fruit mixture, breaking up any clumps with the back of a spoon to create an even, crumbly layer.

  7. Cover the baking pan with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for 15 minutes.

  8. Carefully remove the foil and continue baking for 10 more minutes, until the topping is golden brown and crispy.

  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
