Ingredients
⅓ cup softened butter
1 pouch molten chocolate filling
1 cup mini chocolate chips
1 package Krusteaz Molten Deep Dish Classic Cookie Mix
1 large egg
½ cup peanut butter
½ cup sweetened condensed milk
Directions
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking pan with cooking spray or a light coating of butter.
In a medium bowl, combine the cookie mix, softened butter, egg, and 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips. Stir until the mixture comes together into a cohesive dough.
In a separate bowl, blend the peanut butter with the sweetened condensed milk until smooth and well combined.
Press half of the cookie dough firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan, creating an even layer.
Spread the molten chocolate filling evenly over the dough layer.
Spread the peanut butter mixture over the chocolate layer.
Crumble the remaining cookie dough into small pieces and scatter over the peanut butter layer. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
Bake for 36 to 40 minutes, until the center is set and the bars are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan before cutting into 16 squares.
Comments
Every ingredient lands easily at any Charlotte grocer—butter, eggs, and chocolate chips are pantry staples, and boxed cookie mix plus peanut butter and condensed milk are stocked everywhere from Walmart to Harris Teeter. The cost per serving runs around 60–75 cents, driven mainly by the chocolate chips and peanut butter, which is reasonable for a dessert bar. The stated 60 minutes is honest if you count cooling time, but active work is roughly 20 minutes: mix, layer, bake 20–25 minutes, cool—no fussiness, no constant attention, and the bars hold well for several days, making them a reliable weeknight dessert or lunchbox option for families.
