Ingredients

3 medium mangoes, peeled, pitted, and chopped (about 3 cups)

1½ cups plain yogurt, chilled

½ cup milk or water, chilled

2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste

¼ teaspoon ground cardamom

Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Directions

  1. Ensure all ingredients are well chilled. Add the chopped mangoes, chilled yogurt, milk or water, sugar, and ground cardamom to a blender.

  2. Blend on high speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides if needed. Taste and adjust sweetness with additional sugar if desired.

  3. Pour the mango lassi into chilled glasses, dividing evenly among 4 servings.

  4. Garnish each glass with a fresh mint leaf and serve immediately while chilled.

Mango lassi checks most boxes for a Charlotte weeknight: yogurt and milk are staples at every major chain, sugar and cardamom are standard pantry items, and fresh mango or frozen chunks are reliably stocked at Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Kroger, and Walmart year-round. The 10-minute stated time is honest—blending mango, yogurt, and milk truly takes that long, though you'll want to peel and chunk a fresh mango, which adds another 5 minutes if starting from whole fruit. At roughly 50 to 70 cents per serving depending on mango price and yogurt brand, this is genuinely cheap. The only real drawback is that lassi doesn't keep well; it separates overnight and tastes watery on day two, so this is strictly a same-day drink and doesn't feed leftovers.
