Ingredients

1 Medium carrot

½ Red bell pepper, halved

1 Medium summer squash

4 Whole wheat pita rounds, 6-inch diameter

¾ cup Pasta sauce, no salt added

4 Part skim mozzarella string cheese sticks

Directions

  1. Position the oven rack in the center and preheat the oven to 400°F.

  2. Trim the carrot and cut it into small sticks approximately 2 inches long to use as the Xs for the game board.

  3. Slice the red bell pepper into small sticks approximately 2 inches long to use as additional Xs for the game board.

  4. Slice the summer squash into 12 thin rounds to use as the Os for the game board.

  5. Carefully unravel each mozzarella string cheese stick into 4 thin strands to create the grid lines for the tic tac toe board.

  6. Place the 4 pita rounds onto a baking sheet and evenly spread about 3 tablespoons of pasta sauce across the top of each round.

  7. Invite children to create their own tic tac toe games on each pita pizza by arranging the cheese strands into a grid pattern and placing the carrot sticks, bell pepper sticks, and squash slices to form Xs and Os.

  8. Transfer the baking sheet to the preheated oven and bake for approximately 10 minutes, until the cheese becomes melted and begins to bubble.

  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool briefly before serving.
