Ingredients
1 recipe Unsweetened pie dough with fried shallots mixed in
1 recipe Green bean casserole (cooked through step 5 and cooled)
1 Egg white
to taste Coarse sea salt, such as Maldon
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a lightly floured surface, roll out the prepared pie dough to about 1/8 inch thickness.
Transfer the rolled dough to a 9-inch pie dish, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edge and set aside.
Pour the cooled green bean casserole mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg white with a fork until it becomes foamy. Brush the beaten egg white around the edges of the crust.
Sprinkle coarse sea salt over the egg white-brushed edges. Place the pie on a baking sheet to catch any potential drips.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is heated through. The pie is done when you see slight browning at the edges of the crust.
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
