Ingredients
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
5 cups popped popcorn
3/4 cup raisins
1 cup bite-size shredded wheat cereal
1 tablespoon brown or white sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Directions
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before preparing this snack.
Pop the popcorn using your preferred method (air popper, microwave, or stovetop) and allow it to cool slightly. You should have about 5 cups of popped kernels.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the popped popcorn, raisins, and bite-size shredded wheat cereal.
In a small bowl or cup, whisk together the sugar and ground cinnamon until well blended.
Drizzle the melted margarine or butter evenly over the popcorn mixture.
Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered ingredients.
Using a large spoon or by gently shaking the bowl with a lid, toss and stir the mixture until all the popcorn, cereal, and raisins are evenly coated with the butter and cinnamon-sugar. Serve immediately and enjoy.
Comments
This is a genuine 15-minute sweet snack that costs under $2 total: margarine, popcorn, and raisins are pantry staples at every Charlotte grocery, while shredded wheat and cinnamon-sugar are already in most homes. The recipe is literally dump-and-mix with no technique to speak of, making it idiot-proof for weeknight snacking or a lunchbox surprise. The one caveat is that it does not keep well past a day or two—it's a same-night treat, and the portions are modest (two generous servings), so plan for seconds or commit to eating it fresh.
