Ingredients
½ cup coconut water, almond milk, or water
½-inch piece fresh peeled ginger
3 tablespoons dried goji berries
¾ cup ice
1 tablespoon coconut nectar or maple syrup
2 medium oranges, peeled with excess pith removed
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
Directions
Peel the oranges, removing as much of the white pith as possible, and break the segments into quarters. Peel and roughly chop the ginger into small pieces.
Add the coconut water (or your chosen liquid), peeled orange pieces, ginger, goji berries, turmeric, and sweetener to a high-powered blender.
Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and the goji berries are fully broken down. This may take 2 to 5 minutes depending on your blender's power.
Add the ice to the blender and blend again until the smoothie is thick, creamy, and evenly chilled.
Pour into a glass and serve immediately while cold.
Comments
Goji berries require a specialty or online stop—Food Lion and Walmart sometimes stock them dried, but Harris Teeter is your most reliable Charlotte option, and even there they are pricey at around $12 per small bag, adding real cost to a one-serving drink. Coconut nectar is similarly scarce at standard Charlotte chains and usually lands at Whole Foods or Harris Teeter's natural section at premium price. The ten-minute claim is honest for blending, but the real friction is sourcing goji berries and coconut nectar without a detour; for a single smoothie, the ingredient hunt may not be worth the convenience. This works as a same-night wellness shot with no leftovers to manage, and the orange and ginger are easy finds, but budget the extra stop and cost if you do not already shop specialty sections regularly.
