Ingredients
1 pound 90% lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
3 1/2 cups water
1 can (15 ounces) low-sodium tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
16 ounces spaghetti noodles, broken into smaller pieces
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Directions
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before beginning food preparation.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion, breaking the meat into small crumbles as it cooks. Cook until the beef is completely browned and no pink remains, approximately 8 to 10 minutes. Ensure the ground beef reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
Carefully drain the excess fat from the skillet, leaving a small amount for flavor if desired.
Add the water, tomato sauce, sugar, dried oregano, garlic powder, dried rosemary, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine all ingredients. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
Stir in the broken spaghetti noodles, making sure they are submerged in the liquid. Cover the skillet with a lid, reduce heat to medium or medium-low, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent the noodles from sticking together and to the bottom of the pan.
When the spaghetti is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed, remove the skillet from heat. Top the pasta evenly with the shredded Parmesan cheese.
Allow leftovers to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate in airtight containers within 2 hours. Store for up to 3 to 4 days.
